The teams from Human Resources and the Heavy Plate Mill come out on top!
After an exciting month of volleyball and football competitions for staff in LIBERTY Galati, the grand finals took place last week on Thursday and Friday. The HR team proved victorious in volleyball and the Heavy Plate Mill won the football tournament.
To commemorate World Safety Day and Be GFG Safe values, the team in Galati launched the LIBERTY Sports Competition 2023 for all colleagues who are passionate about sport and want to have fun participating in football and volleyball matches. The tournament took place from 22 May to 30 June and many colleagues joined as supporters for their favourite teams.
The Human Resources team was the winner of the volleyball competition
On Thursday, the finalists of the volleyball competition – Heavy Plate Mill, Galva&Organic Coating, Quality and HR teams – played in the finals. The Galva&Organic Coating and HR department teams competed in the grand final and the winner of the tournament was the HR team! The Galva&Organic Coating won the 2nd place, Heavy Plate Mill won the 3rd place and Cold Rolling Mill team won the fair play award.

Exciting moments took place at the finals of the football competition, where the Sinter and Internal Logistics teams gave their best in the small final! The grand final brought Heavy Plate Mill and Steel Making Shop teams face to face and the big trophy was won by Heavy Plate Mill. Steel Making Shop and Sinter Plant won the 2nd and 3rd places! The IT team and his supporters won the fair play award and our colleague Ionut Badarau, from Steel Making Shop, won the Golgeter Prize – for achieving the highest number of goals in the tournament.
Congratulations to the winners, and a special thanks to all colleagues who signed up and participated in this competition that promoted health, wellbeing and fun through sports. We are glad to see that this competition was such a success!
