If you want serious steps and some seriously good scenery, the folk at LIBERTY Bell Bay (LBB) in Tasmania have all the right ingredients for this year’s GFG Global Health Challenge.
The Vibransham team is one of the 137 teams entered globally in this year’s challenge. While their colleagues in Europe can probably boast some pretty special walking opportunities, teams from the manganese smelter in beautiful Tasmania aren’t doing too bad either.
Graduate Systems Engineer at LBB, Brandon Harding said the Vibransham team of first-timers was looking forward to experiencing some of the local scenery to get its steps up. The crew consists of Brandon, Electrical Engineer Sabnaz Shaik, Graduate Process Engineer Viktorija Sinozic, Process Engineer Adam Hayes and Automation Engineer Sam Richards.
“We’ve all hoping to be a bit more active going into the summer and regain some of our fitness, except for Adam who is an football umpire and runs a lot anyway,” Brandon said.
“There will be some more site audits get those steps up and hopefully we can finally get our planned hike out of the group chat and into the mountains.
“We plan to make the most of the recent spell of good weather here in Tassie for some more hikes into the high country and see some pretty spectacular waterfalls.”
Brandon paid tribute to Sabnaz for getting the team together in the first place. The crew are also mentors for the GFG Foundation.
“Sabnaz was the instigator getting us all motivated to sign up,” Brandon said.
“We then formed the team after working on a mentoring presentation project for the GFG Foundation that we all do together.
“The best thing we have already seen is everyone’s drive and motivation for the challenge.”
