LIBERTY Częstochowa welcomes first interns
LIBERTY Częstochowa, Poland, welcomed the first group of five student interns ...
The GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Steel UK recently concluded their student mentoring programme, which saw 50 Year 9 students from local schools take on an impressive challenge: to create environmental projects centred around the theme of “A Sustainable Community.”
Over the past three months, students from five local schools—Stocksbridge High School, Swinton Academy, Wath Academy, High Storrs School, and Sheffield Girls’ High School —engaged in this enriching project that provided students with a valuable opportunity to develop key skills such as teamwork, research, and leadership.
Mentor Insights and Student Growth
Mentors from LIBERTY Steel UK played a crucial role in guiding the students through this journey. They shared that one of the most rewarding aspects of the programme was watching the students grow in confidence and capability as they progressed through their projects. The mentors were not only advisors but also witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of the programme on the students.
The mentoring programme, launched three years ago by the GFG Foundation, is designed to equip young minds with essential skills in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and green industries. By focusing on these areas, the programme aims to make students more job-ready and instil a sense of innovation and environmental awareness.
Achievements and Recognitions
As a testament to their hard work and dedication, all participating students received the Industrial Cadet Bronze Award. This recognition underscores the effort and commitment the students have shown throughout the project. The success of this year’s mentoring programme is a clear indication of the positive impact such initiatives can have on young people by fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
