Christmas cheer has arrived in Whyalla again this year thanks to Foodbank SA with some support from GFG Alliance.
In October, a team from the GFG Alliance Adelaide office was again busy on the Foodbank SA production line in Edwardstown packing Christmas Hamper boxes of food for those in need this festive season.
780 of those boxes have now reached Whyalla where they will be distributed, via various charities, to those needing a little extra cheer this Christmas. The boxes contain a welcome boost to the pantry with everything from cereal to Christmas pudding.

Foodbank SA & NT CEO Greg Pattinson said GFG Alliance’s contribution toward the Christmas hamper program in Whyalla, both financial and in-kind, increases the capacity to get food out to those in need.
“Foodbank SA & NT have appreciated the generous support of GFG Alliance for many years. This support has been crucial to enabling Foodbank to continue to operate in Whyalla and right across the Eyre Peninsula,” Greg said.
“We know that at Christmas it is a particularly stressful and difficult time for many individuals and families that are already struggling to put food on the table.
“We appreciate the support of GFG and those organisations distributing Foodbank Christmas Hampers this Christmas … helping us to end hunger in the region”.
LPMA Head of Environment and Community, Chris Smyth said the sight of the hampers in Whyalla was a tangible sign of GFG Alliance’s support for Foodbank SA and the “amazing” work it does to help the Whyalla community.
“It is a privilege and an honour for our Whyalla operations and our Adelaide office to support this amazing charity that does so much for the community we work and live in,” Chris said.
“It starts with our team in Adelaide who volunteer to help pack the hampers and ends here in Whyalla with the wonderful Foodbank SA staff and the various charities that help distribute this Christmas cheer.”
Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, providing food and groceries to charities and school breakfast programs in every state and territory.
