Steve Waugh knows plenty about Australian summer and hitting sixes, so it is no surprise to see him padding up for GFG Alliance with his Steve’s Summer Safety Sixers campaign.
A former Australian cricket captain in Tests and One-Day Internationals, Steve hit an impressive 68 sixes in 325 one-dayers and cleared the pickets no less than 20 times in his 168-Test career.
While hitting sixes in the Test arena can sometimes be considered slightly risky, the GFG Be Safe Steve’s Summer Safety Sixers campaign aims to eliminate all risks when we step-up to the crease at work during summer.
Steve has come in to bat for GFG Alliance with an express aim of reducing injuries in the hot months by increasing awareness of safety behaviours and upping intervention rates when it comes to unsafe behaviours.
“One thing I learnt is that cricket isn’t much different to any other job,” Steve says in the Be GFG Safe Steve’s Summer Safety Sixers video.
“To be great you have to plan ahead, think of your next move and always look for ways to improve as a team.”
That planning is a key driver in Steve’s Summer Safety Sixers campaign as it covers off on the following important safety points:
“Summer might be high risk but with a bit of care it can be as sweet as perfectly timed cover drive … and remember it is your safety we are batting for,” Steve said.
