Aussie Summer Safety Series: take 2

Aussie Summer Safety Series: take 2

We’re officially halfway through our Summer Safety Series – a huge thanks to everyone who has been taking a moment to reflect on safety!

As you know, the safety of our team is incredibly important to us, and our data shows that during summer, our injuries spike (last year, 40% of all our lost time injuries for the year occurred in January and February alone!).

This summer, we’re asking everyone to ‘Take 2’…

In summer we typically take time to shut down or scale back operations in parts of our plants to undertake timely maintenance. We need to take a moment to think about how these shutdowns can affect our safety and be even more attentive than usual. And this is where ‘Take 2’ comes in. We need to take two minutes to stop and to think:

  • STOP for two minutes before starting a task. Look for hazards. Think about what could go wrong.
  • THINK about the risks and the safety controls that can be used to make the job safe.
  • GO only when it is safe.

If you come across a situation you are not sure about, ask for help. If something changes, go back through the Take 2 process. If you see someone at risk, intervene if it is safe to do so. Thanks for your support!
