LIBERTY Bell Bay is continuing to support locals looking for work with its involvement in the Launch into Employment Program.

As part of the George Town-based Future Impact Group’s Launchpad facility, the Launch into Employment Program visited the Tasmanian smelter recently to give participants some first-hand knowledge and experience in an active workplace.

The Launch into Employment Program is exclusive to George Town, the nearest town to the LIBERTY Bell Bay (LBB) smelter and is designed to prepare and support people to launch them into their chosen career.

The program aims to give participants a better understanding of themself, their qualities, attributes and be assisted to develop their own Career Pathway Plan with SMART goals – setting themselves up for success

The Launch into Employment Program Coordinator, Carmen Gumley, initially contacted LBB to set up a site visit which was then facilitated by Process Control and Improvement Superintendent Paul Dennis and Training Specialist Annette Raimona.

“The program aims to give participants a better understanding of themself, their qualities, attributes and be assisted to develop their own Career Pathway Plan with SMART goals – setting themselves up for success,” Carmen said.

“The program also facilitates connections with guest speakers from various services and employers, followed by the site visits to local workplaces.”

Outcomes include employment, continuing onto further education/training, volunteering, and connections with community.
