LIBERTY Galati and the GFG Foundation working together to support local community after terrible floods

Over the past week, the team at LIBERTY Galati and the GFG Foundation have carried out a range of actions to support the families affected by the terrible floods in Galati County. LIBERTY Galați volunteers have also helped through donations and initiatives dedicated to the children in these vulnerable areas.

The company and the Foundation have swiftly sent 10 trucks with important material, including bottled water, thick clothes, protective equipment and disinfectants, which have helped 500 people affected in a local village. Based on information provided by the authorities, the Foundation has continued to purchase and distribute cleaning and hygiene products, school supplies, blankets and other essential products for another 500 affected families.

Following an internal appeal, colleagues have donated food, clothing and household goods which have been collected and distributed with the support of the local Church. A task force coordinating efforts to collect and distribute the donations and company volunteers have been working around the clock since the first weekend when the torrential rains began, with the number of volunteers growing every day, supported by the unions.

Furthermore, in a remarkable gesture of solidarity, 15 locksmiths from Galait’s Central Maintenance department have mobilized to some of the damaged areas and helped build modular homes for families affected by the floods, with another 55 colleagues having volunteered to support the authorities’ efforts in the affected localities. With their expertise, our teams can provide safe temporary housing solutions and can help rebuild the lives of families severely affected by the unprecedented weather conditions.
