LIBERTY Ostrava shows off its new giant boring machine

LIBERTY Engineering Products Ostrava (LEPO), a subsidiary of LIBERTY Ostrava, has welcomed its strategic customers to its first ever Customer Day. The company used the opportunity to present its newly acquired WT200H CNC horizontal boring machine, which allows it to process products up to a massive 150 tons in weight. The machine was demonstrated to customers while machining a heavy mold weighing 140 tons, a record for the foundry, which will head to the UK’s Sheffield Forgemasters in the first half of July.

The horizontal boring machine is the only one of its kind in the Ostrava region and was manufactured by Škoda Plzeň, which is one of the world leaders in this category of machines. The newly acquired machine tool will be primarily used to machine super heavy and oversized molds, a special device for casting steel, hot metal, metals or other alloys, of up to 150 tons.

And they deserve huge recognition for that! Our foundry is one of the world’s largest, thanks to its ability to produce castings weighing up to 150 tons. In Europe today, there are only three foundries capable of casting such large products. That is why customers from all over the world turn to us, and 90% of our orders come from abroad including India and Mexico. We were very pleased to welcome customers from Italy, France, Germany and England at our Customer Day, giving them the chance to meet our brilliant team and see the foundry in action.
