Whyalla featured on hit documentary series Australian Story
In September 2018, the ABC’s hit documentary series Australian Story tracked ...
LIBERTY Steel UK recently welcomed 50 students and teachers from five local schools, Stocksbridge High School, Swinton Academy, Wath Academy, High Storrs School, Sheffield Girls’, for a visit to the Stocksbridge site, as part of the GFG Foundation’s Student Programme.
The students were given an in-depth tour of the facilities, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of steelmaking. They explored the Advanced Machining Centre, where precision and technology come together to create high-quality components.
At the Billet Mill and the Test House, they witnessed the incredible process of rolling red-hot steel, transforming raw material into essential products, and the quality control checks that ensure our steel meets the highest standards.
It was a great experience. We’ve received many positive comments from the students, teachers, our mentors and tour guides. We’d particularly like to highlight one comment from Wayne Tullett, a teacher from Wath Academy, who said: “We had a fantastic day – the students really enjoyed it. Mrs. Darby, who joined us, was so inspired that she said she’d love to be an engineer at LIBERTY Steel UK if she could start her career again. Our sincere thanks to the LIBERTY team for arranging this event.”
We look forward to hosting more visits and encouraging young minds to explore careers in STEM fields and beyond!
