300 trees for a Primary school in Rotherham

Last week, on 17th March, LIBERTY Steel UK helped Redscope Primary School in Rotherham to plant 300 trees. Around 450 pupils aged 3-10 were supported by LIBERTY Steel UK apprentices.

As Emelia Taylor, Redscope Primary School Reception Teacher and Outdoor Coordinator, explained, they want to create a Tiny Forest and a meadow and develop an area for outdoor learning that the children can go outside and experience nature. This will not only give them a greater respect for their environment but also improve well-being. Coupled with this, they wanted to show their children how important it is to look after our environment and have an appreciation for the wonders of nature around them.

Children had a lot of fun planting the trees with the LIBERTY Steel UK team. And our apprentices were happy to assist them and spend some time with students digging, planting the trees and tiding the outdoor area.

LSUK employees planted 300 trees along with other landscaping and renovation works. All really enjoyed the experience and have asked to return in future.

Emelia Taylor said:

“I cannot thank LIBERTY team enough for making this happen. The lads were brilliant, super polite and worked so hard, the children are delighted. I think they were exhausted by the end of the day, but what a great bunch of people! We’re so grateful and the day was an incredible success! I do hope this won’t be the last of our collaboration and we can do it again in the future”.

The Mayor of Rotherham also visited the event with Rotherham City Council members and thanked all involved for this great initiative and improving the environment!
