Steelworker’s Day in Romania – Steelworkers forge the foundations of the modern world

Steelworker’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of September by all metallurgy workers nationally in Romania to show appreciation of their valuable work.

We know that the civilization of the world we live in now and in our future is not possible without steel, and steel is not made possible without the people who manufacture it, therefore – in collaboration with the London, Dubai, Bucharest and Galati teams – we launched a dedicated campaign celebrating steelworkers who forge the foundations of the modern world.

In the heart of every thriving community and robust economy, we find the unwavering strength of steel—and at the core of that strength are the dedicated steelworkers who bring it to life. Steel is the backbone of the modern world and a key element in infrastructure, economic development and decarbonization. It is the most durable and affordable metal in the world that we use to build our homes, cars and household appliances today, but also the office buildings, highways, turbines and transportation of tomorrow. Our proud steelworkers are not just fabricating metal; they are shaping the backbone of modern life, contributing to critical human markets that drive progress and innovation.

Romania has a long tradition in steelmaking, and Galati steel is well-known all over the world. Our steelworkers contributed to major national and international projects such as industrial, residential and commercial buildings and products such as heavy machinery, cruise liners, cargo ships and energy transportation pipes. And we are proud to be part of a global family of steelworkers who build a better world every day.

On the Steelworkers’ Day we honor craftsmanship and dedication everywhere, as every piece of steel tells a story of hard work, skill, and pride. Our steelworkers turn raw materials into the essential components that make modern life possible. Their hands and hearts are the foundation of industries that support our way of life.
