The strength of Whyalla steel is again on show with construction under way on a significant building project in New South Wales.

The massive new purpose-built Winning Group appliance distribution centre in Kemps Creek, Western Sydney, is being constructed using 1350 tonnes of steel sourced from the LIBERTY Primary Steel (LPS) Whyalla steelworks.

This project is a prime example of where collaboration between all stakeholders can deliver positive outcomes on our broader business.

The facility, being built for the fourth-generation Australian-owned business, features 76 loading docks and will serve as the company’s base for its logistics business.

LIBERTY Steel Sales Manager for NSW and Queensland, Brad Evans said it was with a sense of pride this construction was able to happen with 100% Australian-made beams and columns from LPS and the Whyalla steelworks. He said it was partnerships between LPS, Winning Group and fabricator Profab Metalworks that made for a successful project.

“In understanding the specific needs of the fabricator (Profab), we were able to tailor our product offering, ensuring cost and delivery targets were met and the project could progress,” Brad said.

“This project is a prime example of where collaboration between all stakeholders can deliverpositive outcomes on our broader business.

“Without the support and coordination of all stakeholders, large projects like this wouldn’t be possible within the tight construction timelines and strict budgets that apply.”
