LSUK team scales the Yorkshire peaks to raise over £2200 for children’s charity

Ten employees of LIBERTY Steel UK, supported by family members, took part in September’s The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and helped raise over £2200 for a local children’s charity.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge’s aim is to walk 24-mile route within 12 hours – it is one of the UK’s most rewarding challenges. Starting and ending in Horton-in-Ribblesdale it takes participants over three of the best known peaks in Yorkshire – Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m).

The LIBERTY Steel UK team of 10 chose to support Bluebell Wood, a local Children’s Hospice which cares for children and young people with complex medical needs or those whose lives are just too short.

Our colleagues successfully overcame this difficult route and as a result raised over £2200 in total, which they will present to Bluebell Wood in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to our colleagues who took part in this challenge for their great initiative and amazing results: from ‘Rotherham Steel & Bar’ – Andy Turton, James Jackson, Wayne Troop, Matt Cutts, Bob Kelly with his family – Natasha & Ben, Toby Sherwood; from ‘Engineering Bar’ – Mark Hesling with Tom Hesling, Farhan Hameed; and from ‘High Value Manufacturing’ – Chloe Evans and Lewis Taylor! Well done, all!
