Children get creative for safety

Mum and dad, come back home safe and sound”. That was the name of a drawing contest that the LIBERTY Ostrava Health & Safety team announced in June. It was open for children of employees and its goal was to motivate kids to learn more about the work of their parents and highlight to all workers the importance of work safety.

Their pictures were to reflect potential risks which their parents can be exposed to and how their work can be performed more safely. Kids could paint their pictures in A4 or A3 format using any artistic technique. They could work on it during the summer break.

After the deadline employees had a chance to vote and select the best pictures through the intranet polls or the employee app. A total of 480 votes decided who would be the winners.

The picture of six-year-old Martin received the most votes (96) in the category of younger children from the age of 4 to 7.  The first place in the category of older children went to nine-year-old Gabriela who got 75 votes. Both of them received a brand-new scooter as a reward at a presentation ceremony held at the company headquarters at the end of October.

But none of the children came home empty handed. Every child who took part in the contest brought home some nice rewards and at the same time they could look at the other pictures which were displayed at an exhibition opened at the lobby during the ceremony. Employees will have a chance to look at them until mid-November. Afterwards the Ostrava H&S team will use them for safety posters.

Remember, through ‘Be GFG Safe’ we want our people and all members of the GFG family to be safe, always. Every employee should be able to return home fit and well at the end of each workday. One injury is one too many.
