Christmas Food Drive

In keeping with the spirit of giving during Christmas and supporting the less fortunate, our colleagues at LIBERTY Steel in the UK, and Australia participated in charitable initiatives to help their local communities in need.

LIBERTY Steel UK in conjunction with Stocksbridge Park Steels held their Christmas Food drive in Stocksbridge. To date, they collected over 6,000 food parcels for the less fortunate. This year, ten food boxes/bags were collected in Stocksbridge and donated to local Foodbank just before Christmas.

The Whyalla Steelworks employees in Australia, in turn, chose to help their local food banks as volunteers.  A team of 12 volunteers helped to pack nearly 400 Christmas hampers at Foodbank’s Edwardstown that made up 21 pallets of festive cheer for families around the country. The GFG support and the work Foodbank does happen all year round. With GFG’s assistance and through its Whyalla warehouse, Foodbank provides food to more than 50 families in Whyalla every day, including the long-term provision of school breakfast packs and the recent introduction of pre-packed dinners.
