Customer Spotlight: Liberty and Jaguar Land Rover – 50 years strong

GFG Alliance and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) share a focus on people, innovation, ensuring a sustainable future for industry and the regeneration of skills. 

Through Liberty, our relationship with JLR dates back over 50 years. JLR is Liberty’s largest customer in the UK, supplying automotive components to all vehicles in the current range, including the Range Rover Sport and Velar, Discovery, Jaguar F-Pace and the first all-electric SUV, the Jaguar I-Pace. We supply approximately 17 million components to JLR per annum, primarily from our Liberty operations in West Midlands, UK.  

Liberty’s automotive capabilities include various powertrain components (engine aluminium die castings, fuel and exhaust systems), body and trim (aluminium and steel body-in-white capabilities as well as engine bay, mid and rear structure), chassis components (primarily steel tubular parts), braking and suspension products as well as control electronics & autonomous systems. 

We are actively exploring opportunities to support JLR in its next stage of development towards electrification, as well as re-shoring the supply of a number of components back to the UK, such as extrusions, braking, control, mechatronics and autonomous systems.  

One of our major projects with JLR is our recent investment in Fort William, Scotland to create the first and only manufacturer of aluminium wheels in the UK, with an aim to be the greenest aluminium wheel plant in the world.
