Fight the cancer!

LIBERTY Steel UK Head of Procurement Mark Bamforth shared his story about his fight against cancer. Mark believes that he overcame this disease because he did the PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test just in time to spot the prostate cancer early enough to start the necessary treatment. Now Mark wants to encourage all men over 50 to contact the doctor and make this vital diagnostic.

“At the beginning of this year, the LIBERTY Steel UK Health and Safety team partnered with the charity Prostate Cancer UK to deliver awareness talks to employees. I attended one of such sessions and later contacted my doctor to follow up on the free PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test. I decided to do it just in case”, Mark says.

He didn’t expect to find out that he had a cancer. But this saved his life. Mark started the treatment, made the surgery and finally he recovered and came back to work.

During this tough period Mark got a lot of information about prostate cancer and the ways how to spot it and treat effectively. In fact, most men are symptom free in the early stages of prostate cancer. Moreover, one in every 8 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. That’s why it is so important to check your health regularly.
