GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galati celebrate over 650 top students from Galati

Yesterday, at the city of Galati’s Excellence in Education, we helped celebrate the achievements of over 650 top local students. During the event, students with an overall grade of 10, children with extraordinary performances in the local school Olympics, as well as the 21 students in the GFG Foundation dual learning class at the local “Paul Dimo” High School were awarded with certificates of achievement.

GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galati are the partners of the Gala of Excellence in Education for the second year in a row, supporting young people and the local community. During the event many educational activities were organised, giving children the opportunity to learn how steel is produced at LIBERTY Galați. Among the most appreciated activities were the chemical experiments, organised by our Laboratory colleagues, and the demonstration of 3D printing of the protective equipment needed organised by the Automation and Digitization Department.

“I am impressed by the large number of students who finished this school year with an overall grade of 10 as I know that there is a lot of hard work, discipline and dedication behind this result. I am delighted that we were able to support the Excellence in Education Gala again this year and to recognise the merit of these outstanding children. I am also very proud of the GFG Foundation students from the dual learning class from Paul Dimo Technological High School, who were celebrated at this year’s Gala. Both the Gala of Excellence in Education and the dual learning programme are extremely important projects for us at GFG Foundation and we want to continue to invest in future generation, to support them as we are dedicated to the education of young people in Galati.”

Georgina Crumpton, General Manager GFG Alliance & GFG Foundation

Among the hundreds of students celebrated were some of the children of our colleagues at LIBERTY Galati. Marius Solomon, an engineer in Galati’s Automation and Digitization Department, said: “As a parent of a child with great school results, I am delighted that GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galati are supporting their education and offering them opportunities for development. It was touching and motivating to see my daughter, Iris, on stage, awarded and congratulated by the top managers of our business, as a recognition and reward for her outstanding achievements.”

“I am glad to see that Galati has so many talented young people with outstanding academic achievements. As we face a radical transformation towards a modern green steel industry with a high level of automation and digitization, we believe young people are the ones who will help us achieve a greener, cleaner future for LIBERTY Galati and for our local community. We invite young people to be the change makers in our industry – and join our company to help transform it for the future. Together we can achieve the goal of becoming a carbon neutral company by 2030”.

Prasanta Mishra, Executive Director, LIBERTY Galati

Iulian Costianau, an engineer in Galati’s Laboratories Department, stated: “The Gala of Excellence in Education was an event highly appreciated by all those who consider education as essential for our children and their future. I’m glad to have LIBERTY represented us at the activity tent. Furthermore, I was able to be with my daughter, who was also awarded at last night’s Gala. Both my daughter and I look forward to this event every year.”
