GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galati launch the Summer Robotics Club

GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galați have launched a new educational project for their employees’ children: the Summer Robotics Club.

Part of a larger programme, addressed to the generations of steelworkers in LIBERTY Galați – former employees, current employees and the new generation – GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galați are now offering an amazing opportunity to employees’ children, a fun club with robotics courses which will run across the summer holidays. This new educational project aims to prepare the young people for the future and develop their passion for innovative subjects to complement their school curricula.

Launched this year as a pilot project, 120 children of LIBERTY Galati employees will have the chance to participate in the free robotics courses to build various robot models using intuitive software and LEGO pieces. In the workshops, youngsters aged between 7 and 11 will have hands-on robotics activities – they will build the robots and learn to make them move  – while older children, aged 11-18, will be tought how them to programme the robots to play football – so they will learn code and have fun at the same time! They will also learn about internet safety and cybersecurity.

We are committed to investing in our future generations and so we are delighted to announce the launch of our Summer Robotics Club, which is part of the LIBERTY Galati and GFG Foundation’s series of educational programmes that focus on developing essential life skills and technical capabilities, especially in the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) fields. This programme is very exciting and will be very useful for the new generation, as their future will be driven by yet more amazing changes in technology. We embrace that change and I know that children will be very enthusiastic about this initiative.

Georgina Crumpton, General Manager of the GFG Alliance and GFG Foundation

“We are launching a new project for the first true digital native generation. Our children’s lives are already becoming dominated by technology, social networks and streaming services, so we wanted to offer our employees’ children an opportunity to further their interest in these new technologies and provide a suitable framework for developing their skills in the fields of the future, such as robotics. Family and Change are two of our core values so we are very happy to invest in the development of our employees’ children. Parents in LIBERTY Galati now have the opportunity to register their children at the Summer Robotics Club so that their children could start their first lessons next month.”

Ajay Aggarwal, President of LIBERTY Steel Group Europe
