Vital money raised for children’s charity

LIBERTY Bell Bay held a ‘Thank You BBQ’ or ‘Barbie’ as it is locally known, for its hardworking employees late last year that they also used as a fundraising opportunity for the Redkite children’s cancer charity.

Over the past four months, the LIBERTY Bell Bay employees and contractors at the manganese smelter in Tasmania, Australia, have been hard at work reconfiguring the furnaces to emerging market demands. A traditional LBB site barbecue was just the opportunity to recognise the tremendous efforts and raise more than $1100 for a worthy charity that has touched the lives and assisted members of the LBB family.

THANK YOU TO ALL: Jamie Johnston (left) spoke about the RedKite charity.

During the BBQ and via the Smelt Zone Newsletter, LBB’s Jamie Johnston shared his family’s story and their connection with RedKite, providing insight into the charity. Redkite gives families the strength they need to face childhood cancer, whilst providing practical, emotional, and financial support to families with children aged 18 or younger with cancer, so they don’t have to face it alone.

The funds raised from the event will go towards assisting families in Tasmania dealing with childhood cancer. For additional information, please visit redkite.org.au
