LIBERTY Częstochowa gives blood to community

Six and a half litres of blood were donated by LIBERTY Czestochowa employees earlier this week during an event organised jointly with the Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Haemotherapy.

The HR Department at LIBERTY Częstochowa arranged for a team of specialists from the local blood donation centre and a special ambulance to be parked in front of the plant’s management building for the morning. This allowed employee volunteers to donate up to half a litre of blood (each of us has about 5 litres in our body at any one time).

More than 20 people volunteered but in the end only 15 were actually able to donate, due to recent travel or other health issues. However, all of them received chocolates from the ambulance staff to thank them for their efforts in turning out!

“We are very pleased with the turn out because, apart from two honorary blood donors, the others were all donating for the first time in their lives,” said Aneta Słomczyńska, manager of the Częstochowa branch of the Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Haemotherapy. “It is a beautiful initiative for an employer to organise a blood donation campaign and encourage its employees to do so. We encourage other workplaces to do the same.”

“I’m really proud of my team for arranging such a great event, which will provide such benefits for those in urgent need of help. The team look forward to running a similar blood drive in the spring and we will be aiming to encourage an even great turn out then.”
