LIBERTY flying the flag at Made in Steel 2023

The LIBERTY team has been out in force this week at southern Europe’s leading steel industry exhibition, Made in Steel 2023 in Milan which started on Tuesday. Sales teams from LIBERTY Galati, LIBERTY Magona and LIBERTY Ostrava, supported by the Magona and group comms teams, have been hugely busy in the event which has hosted thousands of industry players from across Europe and worldwide. Our colleagues have welcomed hundreds of visitors to the LIBERTY stand to discuss our operational and GREENSTEEL plans, highlight our latest product portfolio, and confirm our commitment to the delivery of the best possible service to our customers.

The businesses also promoted some more specific issues. LIBERTY Galati announced its new and highly automated pipe coating line is now fully installed and is currently in its commissioning and production testing phase. The new line will allow Galati to become the only regional provider of 100% in-house coated pipes from its own plates and highlights its commitment to provide end-to-end solution for its customers across Romania, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Full story here.

” The implementation of the new automated pipe coating line is another important step forward for LIBERTY Galati, as we look to expand our high value-added product portfolio and increase profitability. Starting later this month we will be able to coat the pipes using the steel plates produced here at Galați and be able to finish them into premium products for customers in Romania and Europe.”

LIBERTY Magona highlighted that its continuing to make positive progress on its journey to be both sustainable and carbon neutral by 2030, stepping up its environmental activities to reduce its CO2 emissions significantly, through a programme which will see it partnering with the best suppliers of low-carbon technologies available on the market and major Italian universities. The first major step in this programme will be the construction of a powerful solar system for the production of renewable electricity (the feasibility studies and planning work for the new system is already underway) while it is also investigating the production of green Hydrogen at the plant, using modern electrolysis cells. “I am very pleased with the progress we are making towards being carbon neutral by 2030, in line with LIBERTY’s CN30 ambition. We have some very exciting longer term projects which are now underway, while the short term progress we have made to reduce energy and water consumption will show that we are doing our best to be sustainable all the time. We are also making great progress with our social sustainability with an even greater focus on Health & Safety and ethical behaviour as our workforce continues to grow.”

Lino Iallorenzi, Managing Director of LIBERTY Magona

LIBERTY Ostrava, which the leading manufacturer of safety steel road and bridge barriers in the Czech Republic, took the opportunity to update the market on two new types of steel barriers, which been launched to further improve passive safety, even as traffic density on roads and highways increases. Both sets of barriers, which are designed to have as many identical parts as possible, were subjected to and passed a test which meant they had to survive the impact of a 16-tonne truck. The barriers have also been designed with the easiest possible assembly in mind, and in such a way that safety barriers with a different beam profile can be tested in the future while maintaining all other parts. Full story here.

“We are very proud of these new barriers which incorporate some game-changing safety and fitting features for customers here in the Czech Republic and further afield. We have designed these barriers so that they are highly effective at improving safety but also so they are easy to install and replace – a win-win results for our customers and for those using our roads.”
