Lochaber Staff Family Day

On the 20th August, Alvance British Aluminium hosted a Staff & Family Fun Day at the Fort William Shinty Club. Despite a tremendous amount of rain on the runup to the event, even by Lochaber standards, the puddles on the pitch were also a great attraction much to the amusement of the younger children attending.

To the relief of over 160 people who attended, the sun did shine for the event which included 5-a-side football, the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service allowing children a tour of the fire engine, axe and spear throwing by the Wild Highland Outdoor Centre, bouncy castle and slide by AABA, wood fired pizzas by G’s Pizza Box Mobile Takeaway, a BBQ by Farmstead Fayre and sweet graze boxes from Bloom & Graze, as well as face painting and other fun activities for all to enjoy.

In addition there was a raffle in aid of Care Lochaber, a brilliant charity that helps provide transport to those in need. There were almost 50 local businesses who donated extremely generous prizes, which helped raise an impressive £1986 for charity. There were a lot of big smiles from the variety of hampers, vouchers and iPad that were won, but the most sought after prize by staff was winning an extra day to their annual leave.

Tom Uppington, Managing Director of Alvance British Aluminium, commented on the event:

“It was fantastic to be able to bring staff together with their families for a great day enjoyed by all. We are delighted that in addition to the fun had by staff and their families, that we are also able to support local charities.

We were overwhelmed by the generosity of businesses who supported the raffle and a big thank you to them for their continued support.

A shout out also to our Social Committee who come together to organise these social and fundraising events as well as sponsorships. We look forward to planning the next one.”
