Meet the Health Challenge Winners!

The 2nd Global Health Challenge from 25 September to 19 November, lasting eight weeks, saw teams collectively doing 613M steps, which is equivalent to 12 laps around the Earth and more than one journey from Earth to the moon!

Over 200 teams and 1,000 employees participated from eight countries across the GFG network. Visit the Health Challenge community on Viva Engage for more.

This challenge saw some changes from last year, most notably the new categories.

  • Premier League – This category is designed for the top 20 teams from last year. They will be allowed to change only one team member from last year’s team, and they will be measured by a combination of most improvement vs 2022 and the number of steps.
  • First Division – Other teams; they will be measured by number of steps.

SINTER GALATI (Toader Dobrin Craciun, Costel Pomana, Iulian Mocanu, Nelu Radu, Gheorghe Postolache) took the top position in the Premier League with the team collectively clocking 8,114,130 steps! An improvement of 134% over last year.

The BENCH WARMERS (James Supel, Hamish Vermeulen, Josh Reid, Jarrod Schodde, James Eke) from Tahmoor, Australia, consistently topped the leaderboard and closed off the eight weeks with an impressive 7,940,809 steps.

CAMERON LOUDON, who is a part of the JAHAMA ESTATES team (Lochaber, UK) stormed into first place in the individual ranking, the only person to cross 3 million steps with grand total of 3,368,868 steps!

“As a collective, we are now a lot healthier, we have a healthier bond and more motivation for everything in work and life … it has been an inspiring journey.

“Our will to win the Challenge was always strong and we constantly checked the live leaderboard to make sure we stayed in that number one position.”

Together WE MADE IT! We reached a goal that seemed like a dream (8 million steps) at the beginning of this challenge. I am proud to be part of the Sinter Galati team, together with my teammates, who motivated me to surpass my performances last year.

“I am lucky to live and work on Mamore most of my life and my job requires me to be outside, walking a lot. I also enjoy running in the morning and walking two energetic dogs.

I often run in the evening and the dogs always get another walk. Every day is different with the changeable weather, seasons and wildlife, so it’s never boring, always something new to see.

My hope is to keep improving and to enjoy being out in the hills. We have a great team, and it has been a fun challenge to work on together.

The challenge has also brought out an amazing team spirit, with participants motivating and supporting each other, and celebrating the wins of other teams. The challenge has brought people together to collectively develop healthy habits to improve our health and wellbeing. We also saw teams made up of member from around the world, in many cases – neve having met developed a great team spirit along the way. These teams include Sun & Steel, The Globetrotters, Motley Crew and The Walkaholics.

I take great pride in being a member of this intercontinental team (The Globetrotters), as I see it as a true embodiment of GFG’s core values and principles, which successfully brings together enthusiastic individuals from around the world to collaborate! We are all different but share a mutual care and concern for each other’s well-being, much like how we care for our own families“.

Mohammed Rizwan – Captain, The Globetrotters
