People of Steel conquer Tough Mudder and raise £4,400 for Cancer Charity

The LIBERTY Steel UK incredible team, “People of Steel,” successfully completed the 15k Tough Mudder at Belvoir Castle and raised an astounding amount of nearly £4,400 for the Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Last weekend, a group of 20 fearless members from the LIBERTY family journeyed to the Midlands to challenge themselves, overcome 30 obstacles, and raise funds for those in need. Despite the arduous nature of the event, our team’s exceptional teamwork propelled them through every obstacle. They conquered hills, swam in lakes, endured electric shocks, braved ice-cold waters, climbed, crawled, and hung from monkey bars. Above all, they embraced the muddiness that characterized the entire experience. All 20 team members started and finished the race unscathed, apart from a few scratches, bruises, and t-shirt tan marks from the sun.

The team shared their mission statement before the challenge:

“Our team comprises of current and former employees of the steel industry, including some honorary family members. Collectively, we are The People of Steel. This is not the first challenge we have taken on. Last year, a group of us raised money for Bluebell Wood by completing obstacle courses and the Three Peaks Challenge. This year, we have set an annual challenge to raise funds for the Weston Park Cancer Charity, which is close to the hearts of our team and those who have been actively supported by this charity in recent years. Our target is to raise £2000, but we aim to surpass that as we have done in previous years!”

In the end, the team managed to raise a tremendous amount of £4,383!

JUST FEEL THEIR EMOTIONS:

Andy Turton: “It was a brilliant day, even though it pushed me to my limits. I am definitely up for another one!”

Mark Hesling: “This was a remarkable team effort, with great camaraderie and plenty of banter throughout the day, all in support of a noble cause.”

Callum Long: “I have made countless unforgettable memories and acquired numerous new bruises.”

Lewis Taylor: “The entire team made a fantastic effort, not only in completing a highly challenging course but also in their outstanding fundraising. The current total stands at over £4,300. Tough Mudder obstacles demand teamwork, and our group functioned as a unit to ensure everyone made it to the finish line!”

Massive thanks to the entire team! We are extremely proud of each of you. We are also incredibly grateful to all the people who donated and supported our team. Your contributions have made a significant impact, and we truly appreciate your generosity.
