“Although it’s on the corner of the weekend, we would like to spread the sweetness (of Diwali) from now with sweets in the kitchen for you all.”

Those treats were greatly appreciated along with the wonderful spread of traditional food that greeted our Adelaide office family in the brightly decorated tea room on the following Monday.

Embracing the spirit of Diwali in Whyalla, the LIBERTY Primary Steel Procurement Team came together for a joyous celebration with its ‘Bring a Plate’ event.

Sourcing and Services Technical Buyer, Vedant Kulkarni said team members shared delicious homemade dishes representing the rich and diverse flavours of Diwali. From crispy Chakli to sweet treats like Kaju-Katli, the tables were adorned with an array of mouth-watering delights.

“This cultural exchange not only brought us closer as a team but also allowed us to appreciate and celebrate the diversity that makes our workplace special,” Vedant said.

“Diwali 2023 was indeed a special and memorable event for everyone involved.”

Diwali, or Deepawali, is typically celebrated in October or November each year by millions of Hindus, Jains and many others, throughout the world.

The name of this festival is derived from ‘deep,’ meaning ‘clay lamps’ and ‘avali,’ which means ‘row,’ When merged, these words mean ‘a row of lights.’ These lights are symbolic of this festival to fuel the inner light that spiritually protects from darkness.

Chief Financial Officer Mining and Primary Steel, Sanjay Bhartia thanked everyone in LPMA that held Diwali events.

“The Diwali celebrations continue to grow and provide a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our amazing team diversity,” Sanjay said.

“It brings that extra bit of happiness to everyone in the workplaces and helps in bringing the team together on this day and beyond.”
