Steel and iron transformation outlined Down Under in the West

Presentation given at global forecast conference in Perth

GFG Alliance’s green steel and iron transformation journey was outlined in Western Australia last month at the 26th Annual Global Iron & Steel Forecast Conference.

GFG Alliance Head of Government Affairs WA, Alannah MacTiernan was a key speaker at the signature industry event in Perth with the Roadmap to Green Iron and Green Steel presentation.

This was a great opportunity to share what GFG is doing at these sites, and beyond, as we transition to green iron and green steel with a combination of magnetite, direct reduction, recycling and electric arc furnace technology using green energy

In front of key iron ore and steel industry figures, Alannah gave an informative and entertaining speech outlining GFG Alliance plans and aspirations in Australia, and globally, in alignment with the GFG Carbon Neutral by 2030 (CN30) ambitions.

“In Australia we have 171 sites and nearly 7000 employees at our LIBERTY, SIMEC and Infrabuild operations,” Alannah said.

“This was a great opportunity to share what GFG is doing at these sites, and beyond, as we transition to green iron and green steel with a combination of magnetite, direct reduction, recycling and electric arc furnace technology using green energy.”

The conference location in Perth was also the perfect opportunity to outline the growing Infrabuild presence in Western Australia and the opportunities in that state for magnetite supply and direct reduction iron processing.

“Our global and Australian footprint and our contribution to green iron and steel revolution was on show at this conference,” Alannah said.

The Annual Global Iron & Steel Forecast Conference is the premier event for the global iron ore and steel industry with a focus on the key issues of Iron ore and steel market dynamics and outlook, industry growth and developments, sustainability and decarbonisation. It was attended by iron ore executives, project directors, analysts, fund manager, engineering firms, industry suppliers and many more industry figures.
