Thousands celebrate Family Day at LIBERTY Galati

Sanjeev and almost 3,000 of LIBERTY Galati’s employees and their families enjoyed a concert from the Romanian superstar Delia at the steelwork’s first Family Day event since 2019. The LIBERTY family welcomed senior national and local stakeholders, including the Romanian Minister of Economy, to the first family event to be held at the steelworks since the start of COVID pandemic.

The event allowed employees and their guests to visit a range of fun stands, enjoy tours of the steelworks and were treated to a series of stars on the main stage including Delia – who is an iconic figure of Romanian music – and the plant’s own band.

Sanjeev thanked employees through a speech which highlighted the steelwork’s GREENSTEEL transformation plans, which will see the plant producing carbon neutral steel by 2030, as well as introducing an eye-catching new internal communications campaign which highlights those at the plant who are going to help achieve that ambition. Sanjeev also unveiled the steelwork’s new corporate film which highlights how LIBERTY Galati and Romania will be leaders of Europe’s green steel future.

Because family is the heart of society and the core of the Galati community. My wife Nicola and I are so proud to be a part of your community. A community that has so very much to be proud of and so much to look forward to.”

Claudiu Fuica, Head of LIBERTY Galati’s Galvanizing and Organic Coating Execution Sector, said:

“It was great to be able to bring my family into the steelworks so that I could show them where I work. The event was fantastic  – my family and I came to see Delia on stage, but we found so many other fun things to do. I never thought I would get to see such a huge star playing here at our plant – it was amazing!”
